Do you offer bursaries?

There are a limited number of bursaries available for learners in Grade 8 to 12. Bursaries of 10% to 70% of school fees are awarded based on excellence in academics or sports, usually alongside financial need.

Bursary Application Forms should be submitted along with the Application Form.

Please explain the Development Bond / Development Levy system.

SCHOOL FEES are the annually adjusted standard school fees.

The DEVELOPMENT BOND is an upfront deposit, paid before the learner starts his or her schooling at Waterstone, which is used to fund development and facilities, and which is refunded in full when the learner leaves the school, or after three years, whichever is the latest. Some families choose to rather pay a monthly DEVELOPMENT LEVY, which is a smaller monthly amount and is not refunded. The Development Bond and Levy are also annually adjusted.

What school terms does the College follow?

We follow a four term programme, altough the dates are slightly different from government school term dates. The dates for 2010 are as follows:

Term 1: 13 January - 26 March

Term 2: 12 April - 28 May (GRADE 00 - 8)
Term 2: 12 April - 4 June (GRADE 9 - 11) 

Term 3: 12 July - 23 September

Term 4: 11 October - 3 December

Is there an after-care facility available at the College?

Is there a bus service to and from the school?

Yes. Mrs Jenny Brandt operates this service independently from the College, both in the mornings and in the afternoons. Please contact her at 082 928-3394 for mor information and pricing.

Are extra-curricular activities included in the school fees?

Yes. Enrichment Lessons (see the Co-Curricular Activities Page), such as horse riding, golf and dance may carry an additional cost, but standard extra-murals are included in school fees.

I hear you have single-gender classes - is that true?

From Grade 8 (high school) upwards we have a policy of placing boys and girls in separate classes. We have found that this helps greatly with learner behaviour and keeping their attention on the actual work! In addition, learners still have social interaction with those of the opposite gender during breaks and before and after school.

How big are the classes?

While classes vary in size, they are limited to the following maximum sizes:

  • Grade 00 and 0: 18
  • Grade 1-3: 23
  • Grade 4 up: 26
What Grades do you offer now? And in 2011?

We currently offer Grade 00 to 11, increasing to Grade 12 in 2011.
